Pastor Jennings

Pastor Jennings

I am excited about this week.  I get to go to two Brewer games.  My ticket for Wednesday only cost me $2!  Of course, parking will cost $10 and food will cost more than that.  Plus my son’s bachelor party is Saturday and I am cooking for that.  We are tailgating for the Brewer game that day.  I’m planning to make jalapeno poppers, corn on the grill, baked beans, salsa and chips, and ribs.  I need to feed 15 hungry boys.  It should be fun.
In our text for today, we see a little mixture of the human and the divine side of Jesus.  Jesus is 100% fully human and we see that in the fact that He is tired from His journey.  The disciples go into town to get food.  He stays out by the well because He is tired.  That the human side of Jesus.  He’s tired, hungry and thirsty.
On the divine side, we see that He knows all about this woman’s past.  He know that she has had five husbands and that she is living with a guy now.  And yet, He sees past that and He sees a glimmer of faith in her.  He sees that she is ripe for harvesting.  He uses her to witness to her village so that they too believe.  Just by talking to this one woman (a sinner to be sure) He is able to witness to a whole village.
We too are sinners.  We deserve God’s wrath and punishment.  But our Lord loves us and sent His Son to die for us so that we could have eternal life.  Romans 5:8 says, “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”  He saw past our sin and sent His Son to get rid of our sin so that we could have eternal life.  That is something to be excited about.

I read over the last few days to get caught up…. I am really behind in my reading… Can we take a break so I can catch up?? Kidding!
David’s bachelor party…. I took care of him when he was a toddler, how can this be? See I am behind in everything. Smile… Have fun, give David a hug for me. I will be reading……
