Abigail Liermann
5th Grade Teacher

Abigail Liermann, with her love for God, math, and hard work, positions students to succeed. She encourages them to connect with God, find their strengths, and face their challenges.

Born and raised in Barrington, Illinois, Abigail attended St. Matthew Lutheran Church and was an active member of her high-school youth group. She graduated with highest honors from Concordia University Chicago in 2011, earning a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with concentrations in Math and Theology. Abigail also holds a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with minors in Mathematics (K-12) and the Inclusive Classroom.

Mrs. Liermann taught middle school and third grade at Immanuel Lutheran in Palatine, Illinois, and worked as Director of Christian Education at St. Matthew’s, her home church in Barrington. She also taught 4K and 5K and created a resource program for Our Father’s Lutheran School in Greenfield, Wisconsin.

In 2017, Abigail accepted a call to Trinity. Here she serves as our fifth-grade homeroom teacher, fifth- through eighth-grade math teacher, and math-curriculum planner. Mrs. Liermann is also an assistant track coach and assists with Trinity’s book fair and our Light of Christ awards. Her favorite part of teaching is helping students to relax as they face scholastic challenges, guiding them to discover the amazing gifts and abilities God has given them. Abigail attends webinars, events, and training sessions to further her understanding of math and how to best help her students.

Abigail is married to Pastor Brian Liermann. In their spare time, they enjoy hunting with their Lab, Brownie, shooting sporting clays, and riding their ATV.  When winter arrives, Abigail enjoys baking, watching Netflix while crocheting, and spending time with friends.

Mrs. Liermann’s confirmation verse, Joshua 1:9, reminds her that God is by her side through all of life’s challenges.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.  Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.
