Valerie Vanderbrook
Custodial Support

Valerie Vanderbrook has always tried to glorify God in her life. She thought she would become a teacher, but, as she says, “The Lord led me into accounting instead.” Now Valerie is retired from her accounting career and works for Trinity as our part-time custodian. God’s plans can surprise us!

Valerie was born in Lawton, Oklahoma. With her father serving in the United States Army, Valerie and her family lived in many different places, including Germany. She graduated from high school in Enterprise, Alabama, and attended the local technical college to earn her degree in Accounting. Wherever her family lived, they were always involved in church activities—from serving on boards and committees to teaching Sunday School.

Ms. Vanderbrook started her accounting career in manufacturing and finished in the non-profit sector. When her family moved back to Wisconsin, she worked for Lincoln Lutheran of Racine and for the Racine Kenosha Community Action Agency.

Before going to college, Valerie attended the Potomac Horse Center in Maryland. There she received a qualified instructorship from the British Horse Society and taught in the Pony Club, helping others care for and train their horses.

Now, in her spare time, Valerie has also learned the art of beekeeping. She believes pollinators are an important part of the Lord’s creation, and she loves teaching people all about honey bees. Valerie also enjoys growing things—especially plants and trees that will benefit honey bees and other native pollinators.

Valerie trusts the wisdom expressed in Colossians 3:2.

Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.
