Barbara Struck, Trinity’s first-grade teacher, is quick to tell her students how much Jesus loves them. Sharing her own love for books, she also helps students become proficient, lifelong readers and learners.

Mrs. Struck was born in West Allis, Wisconsin, and attended Hales Corners Lutheran School and Martin Luther High School. At Concordia University Wisconsin she earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with minors in Adaptive Education and Speech Communication. Later she received a master’s degree in Literacy from Concordia University Chicago.

Barbara’s teaching career took her to four different Lutheran schools in Wisconsin, Missouri, and Illinois before she accepted a call to Trinity here in Racine. Mrs. Struck strives to create a positive can-do classroom atmosphere, exploring recent teaching trends and working to meet the individual needs of her students.

Besides teaching first grade, Barbara has organized Trinity’s Community Nights, taught music in the lower grades, directed musicals, and led Christmas services. Presently she pursues grant moneys that can help Trinity’s students become lifelong learners.

Barbara is married to Chris Struck, Trinity’s eighth-grade teacher, and they have been blessed with twin sons. Together they enjoy hiking, visiting waterfalls, going to playgrounds, and cheering for the Packers and the Brewers. Barbara also enjoys doing crafts, being with friends, and reading.

Barbara lives by her confirmation verse, Joshua 1:9.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
